That is my goal for 2012.  I want to connect to my body, mind and soul.  Pretty cliché, right?

Ahh, but if only it were as easy as it sounds.

This year I am going to be 40.  Not that it really matters, age shouldn’t limit you.  But in my case it means I’ve lived 25% of my life, basically the last 10 years, disconnected from myself.  I could blame it on my husband’s illness and the limits it imposes on us, but in reality much of the reason is my own cowardice.  I need to step forward and make my own happiness regardless of the situation I’m in.

So with that lofty goal now said aloud, here we go.

Body:  Be outside more…feel the wind, rain, sun on my skin.  Be touched by someone, intimately…a hand on the nape of my neck, a deep kiss that makes my knees weak, having my hand held.

Mind:  Do more things that make my brain happy… drawing, reading, writing.  Having friends over for dinner and conversation.  Playing board games with a lover on a rainy afternoon.

Soul:  Find time to do the things I love by myself…quilting, sewing, listening to music…all these things recharge me, as long as I remember to make time for them.

But most importantly I’ve realized that if it’s something I want, I have to be the one who does it.  Whether it’s wallpapering a room, getting the oil changed in my car, or finding someone to share my private life with, it’s up to me to make it happen.
